Kobold smiled. "Excellent. I was hoping you'd pick that."

Vivian smiled in return. "I didn't think you'd complain overly much. But I do think we should get away from the town so I can start us a real fire so we don't freeze."

Kobold started to object to the phrase "I can start building a real fire," specifically the pronoun in it. But Kobold remembered she was a fire bender, and decided to drop the issue before she'd even picked it up. "Lead on."

Vivian shrugged and started walking, using her staff more to keep pace rather than as a walking aid. She shivered as the cold breeze blew by again. Once she judged they'd gone far enough she turned. "This look good?"

Kobold looked around silently and nodded. She was determined to be the close mouthed sort, so Vivian would be more inclined to keep her around longer.

Vivian shruged off her pack and pulled out a trio of tarps with stakes. These she placed in a semi circle around where she would build the firpit. They'd block the light of the fire until the last possible moment, and it never hurt to be safe. She also unshouldered the wood she'd been collecting throughout the day and built up a fire fairy quickly. Then she consentrated and used the power inside of her to blow a small stream of fire from her lips to the tinder which easily caught. As she sat down, she started cooking some of the rice from her supplies and pulled out some dried meat. "Would you preferdried fish or beef?" she asked, feeling a little uncomfortable in the silence.

Kobold shrugged. "I like either." Kobold realized she was not being a very intresting companion, but she knew that the more Vivan knew about her, the less she'd want her around.

Vivian was thinking along the same lines, wondering how to keep things interesting without scaring her new traveling companion off..."Well I prefer beef, so you can have fish for now. We can switch for breakfast." she said with a small grimace. She wished she had regular breakfast foods once again but shook it off. This life was different from her old one, but it was better in the long run.
